After graduation I lived in Virginia for about a year until receiving my mission call to Austria. After the mission I went to Ricks, where I met my wife, Gerri. When I graduated from Ricks, we moved to Boise where I attended Boise State. Shortly after starting there, our first son, Cordon, was born. While attending school, I worked at the Nampa Recreation Center as a weight room trainer. When I got done at BSU, we moved to Salt Lake so my wife could go to massage therapy school. That was rough, because she had to practice. After about 6 months in Salt Lake, we moved back to Rigby while I worked at the Idaho Falls YMCA and Gerri worked for a chiropractor in Pocatello. After about a year, we moved to Colorado Springs, CO where I got a job as the weight room supervisor at one of their YMCAs. I worked for them a little over a year. I then worked for a company called Gound Zero building commercial fitness equipment. Then our second son, Jackson, was born. While working for them I asked if I could get into their R&D departmen. They told me to take come drafting classes. So I did. Then, after working there for about a year, Icon Fitness, in Logan, bought them out. They moved all their manufacturing to Logan and laid us all off. Right after 9/11 happened, I got a job at a fitness equipment store delivering, building and servicing fitness equipment. I finished an associates degree in Mechanical Drafting and started looking for a job. I sent my resume to my brother in Idaho Falls and told him I was looking for a job. He said he would talk to the people he worked with and let me know. Two days later he called and asked if I could be in Idaho Falls by the next Monday. So we packed up our stuff in a horse trailer and moved to I.F. where I started my first job as a draftsman. Since then Ive worked for two other places drafting, before being laid off and unemployed the whole summer of 2008. In September I started working for a company in Blackfoot that builds potato handling equipment. I draw the machines they build and keep their drawings updated. In 2006, I joined the Idaho Army National Guard. Two days before I returned from basic training, our third son, Aidan, was born. After 2 and a half years in the Guard, I am now in Officer Candidate School and am scheduled to finish in September.
I am now a Captain in the Idaho Army National Guard. I work at the site as a drafter for North Wind Inc. Gerri works at Ethel Boyes elementary school as a Title 1 reading tutor. Aidan will be in 2nd grade next school year at Ethel Boyes. Jackson will be in 8th grade. Cordon is Elder Mecham in the Mississippi Jackson Mission. He has been out 8 months and has served in Arkansas and Mississippi and is now in Louisiana.
Update:
I now work at INL. Gerri is still at Ethel Boyes. Cordon works for a moving company. Jackson leaves on his mission on October 30, 2019 to Farmington, New Mexico, which covers the Navajo reservation where Gerri is from. Aidan starts 7th grade in the fall. Have two Schnauzers now, Blazer is 10 years old and Brutus is 6 months.
